KARELIA is the largest tobacco company and the leading cigarette exporter in Greece. Since its establishment in 1888, the company has successfully responded to the challenges of the global market. The headquarters and production facility of KARELIA S.A. are located in Kalamata, in the southwest of the Peloponnese.

KAFKAS’ Contribution

The primary goal of the KAFKAS lighting team was to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency of indoor lighting using products from leading manufacturers. To ensure the desired outcome, photometric measurements were conducted in the warehouse areas, prioritizing the development of a comprehensive lighting study and a techno-economic analysis. This approach identified the percentage of energy and cost savings achieved by replacing the existing lighting system with LED technology, as well as the payback period of the proposed investment.
