The Project
As part of the actions of the Hellenic Ornithological Society for the protection of the ecosystem in the Kerkini Lake area, in the Serres region, there was a need for the development of a monitoring system to help reduce poaching incidents of endangered birds. The goal was to create a control zone that would ensure the smooth reproduction of endangered bird species, using new signaling and notification technologies.
KAFKAS’ Contribution
The system was designed to combine energy production from a PV system (1.50kWp), while the Hoppecke battery system (135Ah/12V) ensured maximum energy availability for the installation. The DC and AC panels manufactured by KAFKAS fully complied with the study’s requirements, supporting the needs of a distribution system installed in an outdoor environment with harsh weather conditions. Additionally, a remote monitoring system (SCHNEIDER COMBOX) was developed to enable monitoring of the energy production and storage status.
In collaboration with BUSINESS COSMOS SYSTEMS, a complete high-reliability hybrid system was developed and delivered. The operation of the system can be remotely monitored, ensuring immediate fault detection. This system ensured the production of 2,000 kWh annually and guaranteed uninterrupted surveillance of the area against poaching.
