The Project

The Dimargio Luxury Hotel & Spa is located in the heart of Heraklion, Crete. Originally a central building of offices and shops, it underwent a complete renovation to become a 5-star hotel, offering a variety of public spaces such as a Bistro a la carte, Café-Cocktail bar, an outdoor terrace, Wellness spa, Gym, and a conference room for 45 people. Additionally, on the 5th floor, outdoor hot tubs were installed in the room areas. The hotel combines luxury, charm, and privacy, offering a wide range of rooms and suites, each decorated in a modern style tailored to the preferences of every guest.

The vibrant colors, atmosphere of the public spaces, and hospitality reflect the unique character of the hotel, with all rooms and common areas blending the beauty of the refined architecture with modern living.

The exterior terrace, featuring well-maintained stone walls and a staircase, reflects the historical significance of the space while providing a relaxing area for guests to enjoy their meals and drinks.

The Challenges of the Project

A key element in the lighting design was its integration with the architectural character of the project, combining modern design while highlighting historical elements. Both in the rooms and common interior spaces, lighting fixtures with modern and refined designs were installed, featuring warm lighting focused on functionality, seamlessly fitting with the luxury and aesthetics of the spaces.

In the exterior area, lighting fixtures were chosen to complement the specific space where they were placed, considering technical characteristics, durability against external factors, as well as color and style that enhance the architecture.

At the entrance of the hotel, lighting fixtures for both direct and indirect lighting were installed as part of the architectural composition.

In the exterior terrace, the historical significance, openness, and tranquility of the space were key elements for the exterior lighting design. Fixtures were selected to highlight the volumes and materials, emphasizing the stone walls while creating the ideal atmosphere of relaxation and serenity.

Additionally, in the restaurant area, a special lighting installation with crystal chandeliers was created on the ceiling, designed by the architects and the owners to emphasize luxury.

From Vision to Design

The lighting fixtures were selected based on the architecture and design of the space, focusing on the luxury of the interior and the highlighting of both the history and modern design of the exterior space.

Warm lighting fixtures with a color temperature of 2700-3000K were chosen to create a natural effect, emphasizing the use of natural materials and colors while establishing a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for guests.
