The Project

The architectural office POLYERGO led the restoration and transformation of a historic Ottoman and Venetian building into a modern boutique hotel in Rethymno.

Kafkas’ Contribution

Kafkas was responsible for the lighting design of the hotel, aiming to create a hospitality space that highlights the unique architectural elements of the building, such as the stone arches and the existing hammam. Lighting fixtures were chosen to harmonize with the architectural style, including hidden lights, recessed sources, and fixtures made from natural materials. These were used to enhance the qualities and textures of the space without disturbing the overall aesthetic, offering visual comfort and a unique experience for the guests.
