The Project

This project involved the complete installation of new infrastructure, including an underground cable network, manholes, and grounding, as well as the above-ground structures such as poles, LED luminaires, and brackets. The upgrade covered streets and sections of roads within the city of Sparta, as well as the lighting installation along the entire stretch of the new entrance artery to Sparta and the level junction connecting to the Sparta-Platana-Skoura-Geraki (Bridge) Provincial Road.

KAFKAS’ Contribution

The project aimed to enhance the aesthetic and functional quality of the intervention areas while improving conditions for pedestrians and drivers, reducing accidents and crime—longstanding issues that had affected the daily life of both residents and visitors in Sparta. Additionally, our team equipped the Sparta Bridge and specific roads with LED lighting technology to ensure low energy consumption, energy savings, and environmental sustainability.

Approximately 600 high-reliability, high-performance LED luminaires (110 lm/W) were supplied to illuminate the Local Communities of the Municipality of Sparta and the wider area of the Regional Unit of Laconia, replacing existing conventional lighting fixtures. Thanks to the high efficiency and low energy consumption of the new lighting, the project achieved the desired illumination levels in compliance with current standards. This initiative also supported the municipal authorities’ efforts to combat climate change while significantly improving safety and overall well-being in the affected communities.
