Advanced robotics meet the new KAFKAS Distribution Center

Advanced Robotics: AUTOSTORE at the Core of Our Distribution Center

The AUTOSTORE system, a cutting-edge, fully automated storage and retrieval solution—ideal for micro-picking—is at the heart of our operations, significantly enhancing delivery speed, productivity, and flexibility.

KAFKAS’ AUTOSTORE system is equipped with 30.000 bins and is powered by 30 autonomous robots, which automatically handle the movement of bins across six automation ports.

The use of AUTOSTORE boosts productivity and significantly reduces product retrieval time, translating into faster and more efficient delivery services for our customers (3-hour delivery, 30-minute pick-up).

Moreover, AUTOSTORE is a high-density storage system and a “Goods to Person” order-picking system. Goods are automatically transported to the picker, increasing accuracy, speed, and productivity by up to six times compared to traditional picking methods.

Stacker Crane: The Key Player in Heavy Material Storage

The next step in the automation of our Distribution Center is the introduction of an advanced Stacker Crane, specifically designed for the efficient handling of heavy cable reels. This sophisticated crane moves along rails, optimizing space utilization and ensuring faster access and transport of the reels to the automated cutting stations.

Automatic Cable Cutting Machine: High-Quality and Lightning-Fast Cutting

Among the many innovations at KAFKAS’ new distribution center, the automatic cable-cutting technology stands out, embodying the spirit of innovation, advanced technology, and fast customer service. This technology enables quick and precise processing of cables, minimizing handling time and speeding up the distribution of one of the fastest-moving product categories for our electrician customers.

A New Era in Material Distribution and Storage

The new Distribution Center, located in Aspropyrgos, spans a 50,000-square-meter plot, featuring an impressive 20.000-square-meters covered space.

To ensure smooth operations and process security, a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS) is in use, communicating in real-time with all warehouse automation systems. This cutting-edge system manages all functions and operational needs of the Distribution Center, providing flexibility, speed, and organization.

Next-Generation Pallets in Multi-Level Layout

The Distribution Center houses 14,000 pallets of various types, reaching up to 2.2 meters in height, organized across at least five storage levels. The advanced technology employed allows for optimal management of the diversity and complexity of materials. The center will handle nationwide distribution of items ranging from small fuses to 3-ton cable reels and photovoltaic panels.

Speed and Efficiency in Order Management

For smooth and efficient movement of completed orders within the warehouse, an extensive system of conveyor belts and rollers is utilized. This advanced network ensures the organized and rapid transport of products, automatically directing them through sorters to the appropriate shipping ramps based on their destination. This system enhances performance and reduces order fulfillment time, effectively meeting the increased demands of modern distribution.
