In continuation of the Lighting Design Weeks, which started on the occasion of the opening of HUB Ilioupoli, the HUB Lighting & Innovation by Kafkas organized an event with thematic talks and invited speakers with a wide experience in lighting.
The first talk took place on 04/02 at the HUB of Thessaloniki, which was the maiden event for the new HUB of Northern Greece and on 06/02 at the HUB of Athens (Ilioupoli).
The topic was Façade Lighting design: Sustainability, Aesthetics, Construction Challenges with invited speaker Thanos Danilof – Lead Lighting Designer, Danilof studio.
In his presentation, Thanos Danilof referred to the importance of façade lighting design in enhancing the aesthetics, sustainability and project branding. He also spoke about how architectural details are highlighted, while transforming structures into night-time landmarks and fostering emotional connections.
According to Thanos Danilof, sustainable lighting design incorporates energy-efficient technologies and strategies, reduces light pollution and minimizes environmental impact. Collaboration between architects, clients, and lighting designers ensures lighting aligns with the architectural and project vision, balancing design intent, branding, technical feasibility, and environmental goals.
The talk focused on these issues through examples of projects, with the most characteristic ones being those of the Hellenic Parliament and the Piraeus Tower.
The main talk was supported by two short presentations by Luce & Light and Intra Lighting, which specialize in outdoor and indoor lighting respectively.
A crowd of people honored the event with their presence at both of HUB.
At the HUB in Thessaloniki, people were divided into small groups and were guided on a small tour, while experiencing just some of the possibilities that the HUB offers on lighting. Specifically, with the help of the HUB‘s specialized team, people toured the space, stopping at HUB‘s key points, such as the Tunnel, the Garden, the luminaire display structures and the automation department.
The surprise part of this tour was the cocktail show, where molecular cocktails were presented.
At both of HUB, attendees had the opportunity to talk to the speakers, exchange views on lighting, and get to know the HUB and its services better.
Such events aim to make the HUB a means of communicating lighting and its potential to the wide audience.
