The choice of compensation power is made after an accurate preliminary evaluation of the project design data and, where possible, from an analysis of the electricity supply bills. The final compensation power selection depends on the percentage of harmonic distortion of the current (THDIR%) and the ratio between the reactive power (in kvar) of the power factor correction equipment to be installed and the apparent power (in kVA) of the MV/LV transformer.
