The Project
F Zeen Retreat is located in Lourdata, Kefalonia, on a lush, sloping plot of 10 acres, just 50 meters from the sea. The complex consists of three buildings with tiled roofs (1, 3, 4) offering rooms on three levels, a smaller two-story auxiliary building (2), and an outdoor area with a bar and a pool. The buildings are arranged in such a way and at varying elevations that the rooms have unobstructed views of the sea and a southern orientation. A concrete road for pedestrians and vehicles leads from the entrance to the central building that houses the bar and pool.
The central idea and design goal for the renovation and upgrade of the existing buildings and outdoor spaces is perfectly expressed in the name of the resort, “F Zeen” (meaning “to live well”).
Challenges of the Project
Our team aimed to design and implement a comprehensive lighting plan that would highlight the traditional architecture and the stone textures of the hotel. Additionally, the light fixtures and switches were selected based on technical specifications and resistance to various weather conditions (dust and moisture).
From Vision to Design
The inspiration behind our team’s vision was to create a serene natural environment that embodies the essence of “living well.” The goal was to evoke a sense of simple living in perfect harmony with luxurious vacations at every moment of the day. Finally, through our integrated lighting proposal, we succeeded in showcasing both the interior and exterior character of the luxury resort and the textures of its stone craftsmanship.
