Ionia Odos serves as the connecting axis between the Rio-Antirrio Bridge and the Egnatia Odos junction in Ioannina. This 196 km-long project spans two regions and four prefectures, featuring 24 bridges with a total length of 7 km, 4 tunnels totaling 11.2 km, 77 underpasses, and 24 overpasses. The entire infrastructure is powered by Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) substations, along with auxiliary distribution and control panels for both primary and secondary circuits throughout the highway.
To meet the power supply requirements of the entire road network, KAFKAS evaluated and provided product solutions from leading manufacturers. Specially designed dry-type transformers (ranging from 250 kVA to 1600 kVA) with low-loss / Eco Design specifications, compliant with the latest European standards (EU548), were supplied. Additionally, KAFKAS designed, proposed, and delivered LV pillar-type panels (ranging from 25A to 125A) to manage the highway’s lighting system.
The 33 dry-type, low-loss transformers with reduced thermal losses and higher efficiency contribute to minimizing the installation’s energy footprint and achieving energy savings. Furthermore, the high-quality construction of 200 pillar panels ensures reliable lighting system management without downtime.
