The Project

The M.E.N.T. stadium in Thessaloniki is an indoor arena where local basketball and volleyball games are held. The lighting upgrade of the playing area was carried out based on the requirements of the federation for future television coverage.

The Contribution of KAFKAS

The challenge for the KAFKAS team was to upgrade and renew the existing lighting setup of the playing area, as it was deemed insufficient for hosting professional and amateur games of higher categories. The existing lighting fixtures were mounted in positions that did not facilitate an optimal lighting outcome.

Our goal was to install lighting fixtures that would enhance the stadium’s lighting level and ensure visual comfort for the athletes. The proposed and implemented solution involved high-quality highbay fixtures arranged in a new grid based on a photometric study. Lighting levels of over 1000 lux were achieved on the playing field with a uniformity factor of Emin/Em = 0.7, while glare levels were kept low due to the narrow beam of the highbay lights (70°).
