The project

With over 90 years of presence in Greece, Makios Logistics, based in Thessaloniki, is one of the most powerful companies in the transportation sector. In addition to a fleet of public-use trucks and refrigerated trucks, it also operates state-of-the-art facilities for the storage and transportation of dry cargo, as well as refrigerated and frozen products.

KAFKAS’ contribution

The goal of the project was the energy upgrade of lighting in both the exterior and interior spaces of the company’s facilities. By using energy consumption control mechanisms and assessing lighting efficiency, KAFKAS’ lighting team identified high energy consumption and insufficient lighting, especially in the external areas of the facilities. This was due to the passage of large vehicles and nighttime loading and unloading of goods, which negatively impacted the functionality and safety of the space.

KAFKAS’ lighting team’s proposals reduced energy consumption for lighting by 50% annually, with a payback period for Makios Logistics of less than 2 years. At the same time, proper lighting distribution was achieved in both internal and external areas, providing employees with a functional and safe work environment.
